
The Department of Highways is progressing with the Hat Yai restoration mission, reporting 65.50% completion. They have deployed 19 operational teams and are confident of returning traffic areas to the public before the New Year.
Mr. Piyapong Jiwattanakulpaisan, Director-General of the Department of Highways (DOH). He revealed the progress in supporting and restoring the flood-affected areas in the South, saying that the Department of Highways, responsible for "Zone 4, Khok Saman Khun - Khlong U Taphao communities" in Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province, covering a total distance of 62.3 kilometers, has currently completed work on 40.8 kilometers, representing 65.50% progress.
This rapid progress results from integrated resources under the "Department of Highways Volunteer Teams," which is a full-scale mobilization to restore the area, involving both personnel and machinery from highway offices nationwide. They have organized 19 operational teams from Highway Offices 1 to 18 and the Songkhla Road Construction Center, using a total of 98 machines working continuously on site.
The key restoration areas being expedited include:
- Rattanouthit Soi 12, 4, and 6
- Lopburiramet Road
- Phetkasem Soi 16
- Ratuthit Soi 32/1 and 26
- Sakornmongkol Road
- Rajamangala Phisek Road
Up to now, more than 8,100 tons of accumulated waste have been cleared and removed.
The Department of Highways confirms its readiness to accelerate the remaining 21.5 kilometers of work in the final four days and is confident that the flood restoration project in Hat Yai District will be completed as planned, returning traffic areas and facilitating convenience for the public before the New Year.
