Ms. Kanchana Phoolkaew, Secretary-General of the Social Security Office (SSO), said that currently the SSO places great importance on upgrading the operational quality of the "Compensation Fund" to higher standards. This is to enhance the efficiency of protecting employees or assisting those who suffer injuries, disabilities, death, or disappearance from work-related accidents or occupational diseases, providing benefits to improve the quality of life for Thai workers.
However, employers must first register their employees as insured persons and pay contributions to the Compensation Fund in order to receive protection benefits when employees encounter injuries or illnesses due to work, disabilities, death, disappearance, loss of organs, or loss of bodily function affecting work capacity.
Contribution payments to the Compensation Fund are collected annually from employers, calculated based on the total annual wages paid to each employee, capped at 240,000 baht per year, multiplied by the contribution rate for the business type, which ranges from 0.20% to 1.00%. If a workplace reduces accident rates or improves safety management, the contribution rate payable by the employer may be reduced accordingly.
Employers can pay contributions through four channels:
1. At the Social Security Office in cash or by check.
2. By mail.
3. At bank counters or service points.
- Krungthai Bank Public Company Limited.
- Krungsri Bank Public Company Limited.
- Lotus counters.
- Counter Service (7-Eleven).
4. Via electronic systems (e-Payment).
