Energy Ministry Confirms 100% Ban on Oil Exports to Cambodia Since July, Prioritizing National Security

Mr. Weeraphat Kiatfuengfoo, spokesperson for the Energy Ministry, addressed the issue of oil exports to Cambodia, stating that since the unrest between Thailand and Cambodia in June, the ministry requested all oil traders to stop exporting oil to Cambodia. This request has been fully supported by all domestic oil traders. Additionally, the ministry has instructed provincial energy offices in all border areas to monitor illegal oil exports both from Thailand and through Laos. As a result, there have been no oil exports to Cambodia since July, a 100% halt.

Furthermore, inspections to date confirm that no traders have exported oil to Cambodia. The ministry recognizes the critical need to protect national security and the well-being of its citizens. Thailand’s laws require all oil traders to strictly report export data to the Department of Energy Business, which serves as a key mechanism for overseeing and verifying oil export volumes.
