Transport Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn revealed that the Cabinet has approved free tolls on the Burapha Withi and Kanchanaphisek expressways for seven days to welcome the 2026 New Year festival, from 30 Dec 2025 to 5 Jan 2026.
Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, disclosed that the Cabinet meeting resolved to approve a toll waiver as per the Ministry of Transport's announcement for the Burapha Withi Expressway (Bang Na–Chonburi) and the Kanchanaphisek Expressway (Bang Phli–Suksawat) operated by the Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT). This is to facilitate public travel during the 2026 New Year festival.
Mr. Phiphat stated that the toll waiver will last for seven days, from 00:01 on 30 December 2025 to 24:00 on 5 January 2026. This is part of the government's New Year gift measures to help reduce expenses and improve travel convenience during the busy travel period.
“The Cabinet has approved this measure to facilitate citizens traveling back to their hometowns and returning to Bangkok during the 2026 New Year festival. All agencies under the Ministry of Transport have been assigned to fully prepare for traffic management and safety,” Phiphat added.
Furthermore, the toll waiver on the Burapha Withi Expressway (Bang Na–Chonburi) and the Kanchanaphisek Expressway (Bang Phli–Suksawat) during the 2026 New Year festival will provide tangible benefits to the public. Besides monetary savings such as reduced travel time, there are intangible benefits including convenience, speed, and safety for expressway users, as well as reduced air pollution near toll booths.
Additionally, this measure helps alleviate traffic congestion on the expressways during the high-traffic holiday period, reflecting the Expressway Authority of Thailand's social responsibility. It also enhances the agency's public image and encourages greater public use of these two expressways in the future.
