The Ministry of Commerce, through the Department of Internal Trade, is advancing efforts to reduce the cost of living by partnering with more than 250 manufacturers and modern trade malls to launch a campaign offering discounts of up to 80%. Sales will take place at the Ministry of Commerce from 23 to 25 December 2025 and continue at malls nationwide until 31 January 2026. Alongside this, support is extended to entrepreneurs along the Thai-Cambodian border, who are given space to showcase their products at the event, with plans to include their goods in all Blue Flag sales outlets. Agricultural products are also linked with partners for both sales and processing, such as Sisaket shallots and three-water sea bass from Songkhla Province, under the concept “Thai helps Thai, buy Thai products, sustain the Thai economy.”
23 December 2025 GMT+7 Mr. Witthayakorn Maneenet, Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade revealed that the Ministry of Commerce, through the Department of Internal Trade, is organizing the "Commerce Discount New Year Mega Sale 2026" project, following the ministry’s policy focused on concretely reducing the cost of living for the public during the New Year festival, while stimulating the domestic economy and supporting farmers and Thai entrepreneurs.
The opening ceremony of the "Commerce Discount New Year Mega Sale 2026" was honored by Mr. Wutigrai Leewiraphan, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, who presided over the event alongside over 250 private sector participants offering discounted products. Ministry of Commerce executives also attended and toured the sales booths, which were set up from 23 to 25 December 2025. The discount measures and services will continue nationwide for 40 days until 31 January 2026.
The Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade stated that this project represents an integrated collaboration between the public and private sectors, involving more than 180 manufacturers, entrepreneurs, and modern trade malls, along with over 70 service providers and online sales platforms, totaling over 250 participants. They are offering more than ten thousand discounted items, with reductions of up to 80%, to help ease the financial burden on the public.
Furthermore, the Department of Internal Trade emphasizes supporting entrepreneurs in vulnerable areas by inviting participants from seven provinces along the Thai-Cambodian border, which face economic challenges, to showcase their products at the event. This includes beef products from Buriram Province and other local goods, aiming to expand market channels and increase income opportunities for entrepreneurs in these areas amid current conditions.
Additionally, agricultural products are directly linked from production areas for sale at the event, particularly three-water sea bass from Songkhla Province, which is featured in a booth to enhance market access for farmers affected by recent flooding. This helps farmers distribute their produce and reach consumers directly.
The Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade said that the "Commerce Discount New Year Mega Sale 2026" project aims to reduce the public’s cost of living by no less than 5 billion baht. The three-day sale event at the Ministry of Commerce is expected to generate at least 20 million baht in economic circulation. Participating entrepreneurs are also organizing additional promotional activities to stimulate spending during the New Year festival.
“We invite the public to participate in purchasing products and services offered in this project and extend our best wishes for the New Year festival. On behalf of the Department of Internal Trade, I wish everyone safe travels, happiness with family, and a good quality of life throughout the New Year and every day.” The Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade concluded the remarks.
