
Phuket Airport clarified that ETIHAD Airways flight EY 416, operating from Abu Dhabi to Phuket, encountered turbulence during the flight. It has now landed safely with no passengers injured.
Reporters noted that following online reports about ETIHAD Airways flight EY 416 from Abu Dhabi to Phuket encountering turbulent weather during its flight to Phuket Airport on 14 January, Phuket Airport stated the incident occurred at 11:00 a.m. The airport's medical staff received notification from the airline that the aircraft had encountered turbulence but the number of injured persons was unknown. Consequently, preparations and coordination were made with the Naresuan Rescue Center and related networks to be ready, including assigning aircraft parking spot number 15 to accommodate the situation.
Coordination was also established with the airport’s fire and rescue teams, as well as ground staff at designated points, to provide immediate care for passengers and crew. At 11:50 a.m., the aircraft landed at Phuket Airport. Initial checks and assistance found no injuries related to the incident. Furthermore, the event did not affect airport operations or services.
The airport emphasized its highest priority on passenger safety and reassurance, maintaining readiness for emergencies according to established plans. Regular drills are conducted to ensure timely, effective assistance meeting international aviation standards.
