National Housing Authority Gathers Experts for “Transforming Sustainable Urban Development with Data and Technology”

The National Housing Authority organized a seminar titled “Smart Data City: Transforming Sustainable Urban Development with Data and Technology,” with General Supoj Malaniyom, Chairman of the National Housing Authority Board, presiding over the opening and delivering a keynote speech on “The National Housing Authority and Sustainable Housing Development.” Associate Professor Dr. Amnat Jamratjarungphon, Board Member; Ms. Benjaporn Chakranon, Board Member; and Dr. Smith Darakorn Na Ayudhya, Expert Board Member and Chair of the Working Group on Developing the National Housing Data Center, led the discussion alongside experts from leading organizations. The Knowledge and Innovation Management Committee, Governor Taweepong Wichaidit, NHA executives, and related partner agencies attended the seminar held on 14 January 2026 at The Grand Fourwings Convention Hotel, Srinakarin, Bangkok.

General Supoj Malaniyom, Chairman of the National Housing Authority Board, revealed that this seminar is part of advancing housing and urban development policies of the National Housing Authority, focusing on using data and digital technology as key tools to enhance citizens' quality of life inclusively and sustainably. The forum provided an opportunity for experts in urban development to exchange knowledge, ideas, and experiences regarding city, community, and housing development based on data. It also raised awareness of the importance of data integration among agencies to adapt to urban social changes in the digital era, forming a fundamental basis for driving the Smart Data City concept suitable for Thailand's context.

The Chairman added that the National Housing Authority has established the National Housing Data Center as the main mechanism to link urban database systems and support long-term policy planning for housing and urban development. Government and private sector agencies can utilize the data to manage cities efficiently.

. . . Governor Taweepong Wichaidit of the National Housing Authority stated that the National Housing Authority will use this seminar platform to review lessons learned, exchange perspectives, and reflect on challenges in using data and technology for developing cities, communities, and housing in Thailand. The aim is to seek solutions to promote data-driven policy planning for Smart Data City in a practical manner. Accurate, up-to-date, and interconnected data will enhance government planning and management efficiency across all dimensions, including housing, transportation, environment, safety, energy use, and public services. Simultaneously, citizens will receive convenient, prompt, and precise services that reduce redundancy, lower costs, and shorten interactions with government agencies, while enabling easier access to essential life information.

. . . A smart city powered by data and technology aims to improve citizens' quality of life, reduce government operating costs, and build a sustainable urban economy over the long term. The National Housing Authority will utilize smart city data platforms and the Smart Data Analytics Platform to integrate, analyze, and securely use data reliably, enabling efficient and sustainable management of housing, communities, and cities,” concluded Governor Taweepong.
