Government Housing Bank (GH Bank) has implemented urgent measures to assist customers affected by a crane falling onto a train, reducing interest rates to 0.01% per year for customers who were seriously injured or deceased.
Dr. Mahattana Amornpisit, Governor of Government Housing Bank (GH Bank) revealed that following the incident where a construction crane fell onto a train in Sikhio District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, causing numerous deaths and injuries, GH Bank—as a state specialized financial institution with the mission to “help Thai people own homes”—is fully committed to supporting affected customers. The bank has established urgent relief measures to assist those impacted by the crane accident to ease their initial hardships as follows.
In cases of serious injury the interest rate will be reduced to 0.01% per year for a period of one year. After this period, the interest rate will revert to the customer's original rate prior to joining the program.
In cases of death or permanent disability the interest rate will be reduced to 0.01% per year for the entire loan term, aiming to lessen the long-term debt burden on the families of the deceased.
