Commerce Ministry Hosts Seminar Building Thai Franchises for Singapore to Boost Thai Franchise Expansion Abroad

The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) under the Ministry of Commerce is actively promoting Thai franchise entrepreneurs to expand their businesses internationally through the seminar project "Building Thai Franchises for Singapore." The initiative aims to enhance the capabilities and prepare Thai entrepreneurs to effectively compete in global markets on 20 January 2026 at the New Trade Entrepreneur Development Institute, DITP, on Ratchadaphisek Road. In cooperation with the Department of Business Development (DBD), the project selects qualified Thai franchise entrepreneurs who have completed business development processes to provide knowledge in marketing, management, and international trade regulations to support business expansion overseas.

Ms. Sunanta Kangwalakul, Director-General of the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), Ministry of Commerce, stated, "The franchise system is a business model that allows entrepreneurs to rapidly develop and expand their operations, reducing constraints related to capital and time. It also offers an investment option for those seeking to own a business but lack experience and business and marketing knowledge, as the franchisor provides comprehensive know-how in all aspects to franchise partners. Currently, franchise businesses globally and in Thailand are continuously growing. In 2025, the global franchise market was valued at approximately 160.35 billion U.S. dollars, or about 5.1 trillion baht. In Thailand, the franchise sector generates over 300 billion baht in economic value, with an average annual growth rate of 15–20 percent."

In addition to the "Building Thai Franchises for Singapore" project, the Department of International Trade Promotion has launched the ongoing "Thai Franchise Global Move" initiative. This project offers Thai entrepreneurs the opportunity to meet with franchise-related agencies in Singapore, facilitating trade negotiations between Thai franchise businesses and Singaporean entrepreneurs and investors. It aims to enhance entrepreneurs' knowledge and understanding of international franchise business operations, leading to participation in the Franchise & Licensing Asia 2026 (FLAsia) trade fair, scheduled for 13–15 August 2026 in Singapore.
