The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports has ordered integrated care for tourists at the Red Lotus Sea following the surge in visitors tracing the footsteps of "Lisa," boosting tourist numbers and enhancing Thailand's positive tourism image on the international stage.
Ms. Natthiya Taweewong, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, revealed the tourism situation in the Red Lotus Sea area in Kumphawapi District, Udon Thani Province, which is currently attracting significant interest from both Thai and foreign tourists, following the trend of traveling in the footsteps of the world-renowned Thai artist "Lisa - Lalisa Manoban," who is an Amazing Thailand Ambassador. The Tourism Authority of Thailand's promotional images and campaigns of various destinations following Lisa's trail have kept the area lively continuously. This represents a positive sign for Thailand's tourism image internationally and reflects the power of Thai charm in promoting lesser-known destinations.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports said that to strengthen and assure safety, orders have been given to strictly enforce safety measures, boat operator standards, and management practices to minimize tourist waiting times and provide close assistance to tourists at the Red Lotus Sea. This is to accommodate the rapidly increasing tourist numbers and maintain appropriate and fair service standards.
He also directed all related agencies to intensify integrated work, assigning the Department of Tourism to supervise operators and services to prevent price gouging on goods and services for tourists and users, while promoting fairness and transparency in tourism businesses in the area.
Simultaneously, the Tourist Police Command has been instructed to enhance safety measures for tourists' lives and property and provide assistance during emergencies to build confidence among both Thai and foreign visitors.
Additionally, the Standards and Safety Supervision Division (SSSD) has been assigned to deploy officers from the Tourist Assistance Center (TAC) to the field to facilitate convenience, provide information, and receive complaints from tourists to improve overall care efficiency.
Ms. Natthiya added that the current trend of traveling in the footsteps of a world-class artist is a vital opportunity to elevate Thailand's tourism image in a new dimension, encompassing nature, culture, and community ways of life, especially by promoting secondary destinations to wider recognition. The Ministry of Tourism and Sports will leverage this momentum to enhance positive communication alongside maintaining service standards, safety, and fairness for consumers.
"The integrated work of all affiliated agencies aims to create a positive tourism atmosphere and strengthen Thailand's positive image in the eyes of tourists worldwide, ensuring quality, sustainable, and tourist-friendly growth. This includes managing immigration checkpoints with high traffic density, where discussions have been held with APT and the Immigration Bureau to urgently address the issues," said the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports.
The Red Lotus Sea in Udon Thani is one of the key natural tourist attractions in the Northeast region, currently in its peak season with blooming lotus flowers that impress visitors. It is becoming a new highlight for both domestic and international tourists, helping distribute income to local communities and supporting the country's overall tourism economy.
