
The Department of Internal Trade has joined forces with the Thai Fresh Market Association, the Central Wholesale Agricultural Products Market, and leading wholesale and retail malls nationwide to organize the "Commerce Delivers Happiness for Chinese New Year of the Golden Horse 2026" event from 13 to 17 February 2026. The event offers Chinese New Year festival products at affordable prices alongside mall promotions with discounts up to 50% to help reduce the cost of living and stimulate spending during this important festival period.
Mr. Chanthaphat Panjamanon, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade, revealed that Mr. Wityakorn Maneenet, Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade, assigned him to launch the event at Duangkaew Plaza Market in Nonthaburi Province under the title “Commerce Delivers Happiness for Chinese New Year of the Golden Horse 2026.” The department coordinated with the management of Duangkaew Market, the Thai Fresh Market Association, and the Central Wholesale Agricultural Products Market Association to link the sale of Chinese New Year festival goods at affordable prices, providing more options for the public. Special priced items include cooked chicken at 133 baht per kilogram, small worship sets at no more than 99 baht per set, as well as ancestral worship sets such as Sa Chee, Sa Pia, and Sa Kuay.
The activity involves 20 fresh and central markets promoted by the department across 5 provinces, including in Bangkok: 1) World Market, 2) Ying Charoen, 3) Bang Khun Sri, 4) Min Buri, 5) Thanom Mitr, 6) Nakorn Luang, 7) Bowon Romklao, 8) Greenwell, 9) Senee Food Bazaar, 10) Yod Phiman, 11) Mai Thung Khru, 12) Ozone One, 13) Khun Yim (Udom Suk), and in other provinces: 14) Duangkaew Plaza Market, 15) Bang Yai Market in Nonthaburi, 16) Thanya Market, 17) Kilen Market in Nakhon Pathom, 18) Yes Bang Phli Market, 19) Mai Samrong Market in Samut Prakan, and 20) Im Aem Market in Saraburi.
Wholesale and retail malls are actively participating in the Chinese New Year festival activities, offering discounts of up to 50%. The department has collaborated with leading supermarket chains and convenience stores including Makro, Lotus, Big C, Tops, Go Wholesale, The Mall, 7-Eleven, Foodland, and Maxvalu, as well as local malls under the Thai Retail and Wholesale Heirs Association. They are offering discounted products such as worship sets, ceremonial sweets, auspicious fruits, and essential consumer goods for the festival at all branches nationwide, preparing to meet the public’s demand during the key shopping days.
, Mr. Wisarut Thaicharoenporn, executive of Duangkaew Market, said the market regularly inspects weighing scales, and officials from the Department of Internal Trade also conduct checks to ensure consumers receive fair trade and accurate weights, giving them confidence.
Mr. Chanthaphat added that this afternoon he will visit Lotus Chaengwattana branch and Big C Extra Ladprao 2 branch to monitor promotional activities, which have cooperated well with the department. Additionally, the department has deployed inspectors to closely monitor prices and product quantities throughout the festival period.
The Department of Internal Trade closely manages essential consumer products in terms of quantity and price. The public is assured that Chinese New Year products this year are sufficient, not in shortage, and sold at fair and reasonable prices. The department has instructed operators to clearly display product prices; failure to do so will incur a fine of up to 10,000 baht under the Price of Goods and Services Act B.E. 2542 (1999). If exploitation through excessive price increases is detected, penalties include imprisonment of up to 7 years or fines up to 140,000 baht, or both. Consumers who encounter unfair sales practices can file complaints through the department’s hotline at 1569.
