Ministry of Culture Invites Everyone to Dress Thai Citywide to Experience the Charm of Lavo at the King Narai the Great Land Festival 2026

The Ministry of Culture invites everyone to 'wear traditional Thai clothing throughout the city.' Step back in time to experience the beauty of Lopburi's unique identity at the King Narai the Great Land Festival 2026.

On 14 February 2026, Ms. Ranee Itarat, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, along with executives, civil servants, and officials from the Ministry of Culture, attended the 38th annual King Narai the Great Land Festival 2026. The event was honored by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who presided over the opening ceremony, with Mr. Weeraphong Ritrod, Governor of Lopburi Province, and local government officials, private sector representatives, and many Lopburi residents joining at the Three Prangs and King Narai's Palace in Mueang Lopburi District, Lopburi Province.

Ms. Ranee said the Ministry of Culture collaborated with Lopburi Province to organize spectacular cultural activities, such as light and sound shows, "Paying homage to the eternal monarch, honoring King Narai’s glory, uniting citizens in love for the nation and land." Performances came from Lopburi College of Dramatic Arts, Khon dance from Ang Thong College of Dramatic Arts, and creative entertainment by “Jam Oad Na Man 3 Na,” which brings the heritage of local language through folk songs in an enjoyable way.

The Deputy Permanent Secretary added that there was also a contemporary ranad ek (xylophone) performance by “Phino the Ranad,” aimed at attracting younger generations. In the cultural plaza area, participation from cultural networks recreated the atmosphere of "The Flavors of History," including demonstrations of ancient dishes and desserts influenced by foreign cultures, allowing local experts to share wisdom and generate community income. The event also featured "Samon Market," a space showcasing products and the lifestyles of ethnic groups in Lopburi, as well as promoting activities "Wear Traditional Thai Clothing to Brighten the City," to inspire tourists to take pride and jointly promote Thai arts and culture. This commemorates King Narai the Great, who built the palace in Lopburi in 1666 CE to establish the city as the second capital and developed it into a former center of economy and diplomacy.

She invited the public and tourists alike to join in "Wearing traditional Thai clothes throughout the city," at the King Narai the Great Land Festival 2026 from 13 to 22 February at King Narai’s Palace in Lopburi Province, to experience the prosperity of the second capital and the living charm of Thai ways in clothing, cuisine, and cultural performances that create economic value. Everyone will discover that Thai history is charming, impressive, and well worth experiencing. The Deputy Permanent Secretary said.
