TAT Launches Grand Amazing Thailand Chinese New Year 2026 @ HATYAI to Revive Hatyai Tourism

Mr. Jirawat Maneechot, Deputy Governor of Songkhla Province, revealed that Songkhla Province, together with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Hatyai City Municipality, and the Thai-Chinese Association of Songkhla, will host the "Amazing Thailand Chinese New Year 2026 @ HATYAI" event from 17–20 February 2026 at Sanehanusorn and Thammanoonvithi Roads in Hatyai District. Under the concept "Glory of HATYAI," the event aims to showcase the unique contemporary Chinese arts and culture alongside the city's multicultural identity where Thai, Chinese, and Muslim communities coexist harmoniously. Hatyai is a key economic hub in the South, fully equipped with infrastructure including an international airport, standard hotels, and various tourist attractions. This event serves as a vital mechanism to promote the city's image internationally and to stimulate the tourism atmosphere once again. It is expected that more than 50,000 visitors will attend, generating at least 50 million baht in local revenue.

Mr. Nat Krutsut, Deputy Governor for Tourism Products and Business at TAT, stated that the event aims to rapidly restore confidence following the major flooding that affected Hatyai at the end of 2025. It seeks to create valuable and distinctive tourism experiences for both Thai and international tourists, especially targeting nearby markets such as Malaysia and Singapore. The four-day event will feature a full schedule of activities including lion and dragon dances for good fortune, traditional dance and acrobatic performances from Fujian Province, People's Republic of China, decorative lighting and fireworks celebrations, as well as concerts by famous artists such as The Parkinson, Indigo, Serious Bacon, Mirrr, Getsunova, Whal & Dolph, Gavin D, and Zom Marie. Over 100 food and lifestyle vendors will participate, helping to boost spending, extend visitor stays, and distribute income to local businesses in a tangible way. The focus is on the Malaysia–Singapore market to reaffirm that Hatyai is fully prepared to welcome visitors.

Dr. Charintran Paethananwet, Deputy Mayor of Hatyai City Municipality, said that Hatyai overcame the major flooding crisis through cooperation from all sectors. Currently, the city is 100% ready to accommodate tourists in terms of safety, public utilities, and convenience, aiming to provide an impressive experience for visitors. This Chinese New Year event is not only a celebration but also a symbol declaring the city's readiness to reopen. It reinforces Hatyai's role as a key regional destination and supports the overall Thai tourism industry's sustainable growth in 2026 and beyond.
