CAAT Tightens Control on Airfare Prices During 2026 Chinese New Year, Confirms All Routes Within Price Ceiling

The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) is monitoring airfare prices during the Chinese New Year festival, confirming that all routes remain within the price ceiling, and has emphasized the need to check price displays on online platforms.

Reporters from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) said the agency is closely monitoring domestic airline ticket prices during the Chinese New Year travel period from 18 to 22 February 2026. The monitoring found that ticket prices on all routes remain within the set price ceiling. However, prices have shown an upward trend, and many flights are already sold out, reflecting a significant increase in travel demand, especially for round-trip routes to southern provinces such as Phuket and Hat Yai.

Additionally, CAAT inspected ticket prices shown on Online Travel Agent (OTA) platforms and found some instances of abnormally high price displays. Consequently, CAAT has coordinated with airlines to urgently verify the accuracy of price display systems on the relevant OTAs, instructing them to promptly correct any issues found and report their actions back to CAAT without delay.

CAAT has also informed the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA) to jointly oversee and regulate services on digital platforms under the cooperation between agencies.

CAAT recommends passengers to compare ticket prices across multiple channels before making a purchase. If abnormally high prices are found, it advises buying directly through airline sales channels, where prices are set within the CAAT-approved ceiling.

CAAT continues to advise passengers to plan their trips in advance, especially during festivals or peak travel times, to increase the chances of purchasing tickets at reasonable prices.

However, if passengers feel their rights are not respected or encounter problems with airline services, they can file complaints through the following channel:complaint.caat.or.th
