
The Department of Rural Roads is accelerating the construction of the Thailand Riviera road along Tanaw Sri Kiriphat, covering the section from Ban Khao Bandai to Ban Nam Phu Ron in Nong Ya Plong and Khao Yoi districts, aiming to elevatetravelalong the western coastline of the Gulf of Thailand, while promoting sustainable tourism economy. The project is expected to be completed in 2027.
Mr. Phichit Hunsiri, Director-General of the Department of Rural Roads (DRR), revealed that the department is expediting construction of the Tanaw Sri Kiriphat tourism road from Ban Khao Bandai to Ban Nam Phu Ron in Nong Ya Plong and Khao Yoi districts, Phetchaburi province.
The project aims to upgrade and extend the southern coastal road network (Thailand Riviera) in Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan provinces, allowing residents and tourists to travel conveniently, quickly, and safely. It will also help alleviate traffic on the main road (Phetkasem Road or Highway 4) during festivals and support the local to national tourism economy. This project is part of sustainable tourism development along the western Gulf of Thailand coastline.
Currently, construction includes foundation work and installation of reinforced concrete box culverts for drainage. Completion is expected in 2027 with a total budget of 714.288 million baht covering 37.240 kilometers. The project also involves landscaping at one site and building rest areas and a viewpoint at Huai Mae Prachan reservoir near the bridge over the reservoir.
The Huai Mae Prachan reservoir is located at kilometer 36+800 on the right side of the project. Road construction is divided into four sections as follows.
Section 1 covers Ban Khao Bandai to Ban Nam Phu Ron, from kilometer 21+600 to 43+730. It involves building a two-lane asphalt concrete road with shoulders, three bridges, and safety features.
Section 2 is the rural highway route Pob.1015 (from Highway 4 to Ban Phu Takian), extending from kilometer 0+000 (at Highway 4, km 136+850) to km 13+767. From km 0+000 to 4+000, a two-lane reinforced concrete road with shoulders is constructed.
From km 4+000 to 13+767, a two-lane asphalt concrete road with shoulders, drainage pipes, and safety features is built.
Section 3, from km 37+655 to 38+453 (a replacement road for part of section 1), starts at km 0+000 (corresponding to section 1 km 37+655 to 38+453). It is constructed as a two-lane asphalt concrete road with shoulders and safety features.
Section 4 connects to Highway 3510, starting at km 0+000 (near km 33+005) to km 1+100.
This Highway 3510 connector is built as a two-lane, two-layer asphalt concrete road with shoulders and safety features.
The Department of Rural Roads has instructed contractors and supervisors to prioritize safety during construction. Measures include public communication to local road users, installing warning signs, speed reduction signs, flashing lights, and all necessary safety equipment clearly visible to ensure the safety of travelers in the area.
