Ms. Supachai Sutthumpan, Minister of Commerce. and their delegation dined and held discussions at the invitation of Mr. Zhang Jianwei, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Thailand, at the Chinese Embassy in Bangkok.
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul. expressed gratitude to the Chinese side for their continuous support in importing rice from Thailand and for playing a key role in promoting Thai tourism, noting that currently about 30,000 Chinese tourists visit Thailand daily, reflecting trust and strong relations between the two countries.
Both sides discussed progress in trade cooperation, especially the export of Thai rice to China under a 500,000-ton agreement, with the first batch of 40,000 tons scheduled for delivery by the end of February. The Chinese side expressed intent to expedite additional orders to meet the target within 2026 and reaffirmed readiness to remain a key market for Thai exports.
They also exchanged views on business operations and investment. Both parties agreed on the importance of regulating businesspeople and investors who conduct activities illegally. The Chinese side affirmed its non-support for such actions and its willingness to cooperate with Thailand in proper management and law enforcement.
Meanwhile, the Chinese side highlighted the development of high-tech industries, especially robotics, with leading Chinese companies likely to expand investments in Thailand. These investments are expected to exceed 10 billion baht, creating jobs and enhancing Thailand's industrial capacity.
Additionally, the Chinese side reiterated the Chinese government’s stance against supporting substandard or non-compliant products and expressed readiness to collaborate with Thailand to strengthen customs controls and import supervision. They also emphasized the importance of infrastructure cooperation, particularly the high-speed rail project, which is a strategic initiative linking regional economies, and showed willingness to continue pushing forward this collaboration.
During the discussion, the Chinese side praised the Thai Prime Minister’s role as a leader who has demonstrated clear achievements in a short time, showing straightforwardness, seriousness in duty, and approachability.
Both parties confirmed their intention to strengthen Thailand-China relations in all aspects amid the trade war situation, with China ready to be a key market for imports from Thailand.
