Mr. Sorapong Paitoonpong, Director-General of the Department of Land Transport (DLT), revealed that the department is expediting the legal registration of app-based hire vehicles in compliance with the announcement from the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA), which will take effect on 31 March 2026 GMT+7.
Regarding the registration of public motorcycles (Form Ror Yor 17) and hire cars (Form Ror Yor 18) for lawful passenger transport services through applications, the Land Transport Department has taken the following steps: 1. Established a One Stop Service center to provide comprehensive registration services for app-based hire vehicles, including registration or approval requests, vehicle inspections, document verification, type change registration, and fee and tax payments (if applicable). This service is located at the Vehicle Inspection Building (Building 4), Bangkok Area 5 Transport Office, DLT (Chatuchak), from 2 to 31 March 2026 GMT+7 (including public holidays), operating daily from 08:30 to 18:00 or until completion.
2. Notified app service providers to bring their vehicles for proper registration, or if providers plan to register multiple vehicles together, they may schedule appointments in advance to ensure convenience and efficiency.
3. Coordinated with provincial transport offices nationwide that handle public motorcycle (Form Ror Yor 17) and hire car (Form Ror Yor 18) registrations to facilitate a uniform registration process across the country.
However, if there are any questions regarding app-based hire vehicle registration, inquiries can be directed to the Department of Land Transport hotline at 1584.
