The Department of Highways is preparing to enhance travel convenience on Motorway No. 7 (M7) linking Bangkok – Chonburi – Pattaya – Map Ta Phut by fully implementing Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) technology in cash lanes to address traffic congestion at toll booths. The first phase will begin at designated toll booths on 3 March 2026 at 8:00 p.m.
Drivers can easily pass through toll booths with "3 simple steps".
1. Enter the lane: Cameras will automatically read your vehicle's license plate as you approach the toll booth.
2. Pass through without stopping: Drivers do not need to stop to receive a toll ticket, reducing queues at toll plazas.
3. Pay cash: Make a single cash payment at the exit toll booth.
To ensure smooth and rapid travel, road users are asked to observe the signage at toll booths indicating "No ticket issuance" and to slow down, wait for the barrier to lift, and avoid stopping to collect tickets. The Department of Highways will gradually implement the ALPR system at all toll booths on Motorway 7 by mid-March 2026.
Motorway users will enjoy convenient travel without worrying about tickets. For questions or further information, contact the Department of Highways hotline at 1586 press 7 (free 24 hours).
