Update on Nan River Bridge Construction in Phitsanulok Province, Budget 66 Million Baht, Expected to Open Mid-2026

The Department of Rural Roads has updated on the construction of the Nan River bridge in Matong Subdistrict, Phrom Phiram District, Phitsanulok Province. The project has a budget of 66 million baht and will cut travel time from the previous 15-20 minutes to just 3 minutes. It is expected to open by mid-2026 GMT+7.

Mr. Phichit Hunsiri, Director-General of the Department of Rural Roads (DRR), stated that to promote and support agricultural product transportation and logistics, the DRR has undertaken the project to build a bridge across the Nan River in Matong Subdistrict, Phrom Phiram District, Phitsanulok Province. This aims to improve transportation infrastructure and alleviate difficulties for local residents. Currently, construction is over 80% complete, with bridge pier construction and railing installation underway. The project is expected to be completed and open for public use by mid-2026 GMT+7.

Previously, residents of Village 3, Ban Matong, and Village 9, Ban Samsri Charoen, Matong Subdistrict, Phrom Phiram District, Phitsanulok Province faced travel difficulties, having to take a rather long detour. This caused delays in commuting and transportation. The Matong Subdistrict Administrative Organization coordinated with the DRR to conduct surveys, design, and support budget for this construction to enhance transportation between subdistricts, making it more convenient, faster, and safer. Importantly, the bridge will reduce travel distance by up to 10 kilometers, cutting travel time from 15-20 minutes to just 3 minutes. This will enable timely transport of agricultural products, save fuel and costs, directly easing residents’ difficulties. It will also facilitate easier access for tourists traveling to the Naresuan Dam.

The bridge project starts by connecting to Highway 117 and ends by linking to a local road. The DRR is constructing a reinforced concrete bridge spanning 180 meters in river width, with a bridge length of 210 meters and width of 8 meters, including sidewalks. Additionally, reinforced concrete connecting roads will be built to link to the bridge, totaling 830 meters in length, with a total construction budget of 66.095 million baht.
