Supachai Urges Close Monitoring of Middle East War, Assures Plans to Control Commodity and Energy Prices

Supachai urged the public to closely monitor the Middle East war situation, affirming that the government has contingency plans if the conflict prolongs and is cooperating with all ministries to care for the people's well-being.

Mrs. Supachai Suthammanont, Minister of Commerce, told reporters about monitoring the tensions in the Middle East and their impact on domestic consumer goods prices. She said the government has set up a Situation Management and Monitoring Center (SMMC) to closely follow the conflict, coordinating with multiple ministries to promptly implement measures to protect the public.

Supachai said the government is tracking the situation daily and will provide progress reports through daily press briefings from the center at 6:00 PM so that people receive accurate information and avoid panic.

“We ask the public to follow the situation closely because there will be a daily briefing at 6 PM on any changes. There's no need to panic but rather to stay informed and apply appropriate measures,” she said. Supachai said,

Supachai noted that the government has prepared scenarios to handle potential impacts. If the situation is short-term, measures already implemented will suffice. But if it prolongs, additional measures will be introduced, especially regarding energy and citizens' living costs.

Additionally, the Minister of Commerce mentionedthat the Cabinethas resolved to promote online meetings and Work From Home arrangements as appropriate. Agencies ready to implement these can proceed, viewing this as an opportunity to adjust work processes and utilize technology to increase government work efficiency.

“Agencies prepared to work remotely can do so. This is a good opportunity to review work processes and adopt technology to enhance efficiency,” Supachai said.
