The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) is waiting for the court's verdict on the "Khao Kradong case" to use as a guideline for further action. It emphasizes that it has not stopped filing lawsuits on individual plots and remains in the legal preparation stage for the remaining plots.
Mr. Anan Phonimdaeng, Deputy Governor of the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) Acting Governor of SRT He revealed that the land dispute at Khao Kradong, Buriram Province, is still in the justice process, which is divided into two parts.
1. SRT has filed an appeal to the Supreme Administrative Court after the Central Administrative Court dismissed two issues: requesting the court to order the Department of Lands and its director-general to jointly revoke all 995 overlapping land title deeds, and requesting the court to revoke land title deeds issued over SRT's land as shown on the railway department’s land boundary maps beyond those 995 title deeds.
2. SRT has filed lawsuits at Buriram Provincial Court seeking to revoke or evict occupants holding land in the Khao Kradong area, Buriram Province, on an individual plot basis.
Mr. Anan added that SRT must wait for clear verdicts on both cases before deciding on the next steps. Regarding lawsuits on individual plots, some have been filed already but not for all 995 plots. Currently, evidence is being examined, and no verdicts have been issued yet. For now, no additional lawsuits on individual plots will be filed. SRT will await the court’s process to conclude first.
When asked if the Department of Special Investigation’s (DSI) cessation of investigation on the Khao Kradong land case would affect SRT’s actions, Mr. Anan said it would not, because SRT is following the judicial process. Both cases remain with the courts, and SRT must wait for court verdicts. However, waiting for the verdicts does not mean SRT will stop filing lawsuits on individual plots; it is waiting to evaluate the court’s decisions first to guide actions on the remaining plots.
Mr. Anan also said that although no new lawsuits on individual plots are being filed currently, in practice SRT is still preparing legally for the remaining plots. This includes verifying land ownership documents, gathering evidence, and assessing legal issues, but it has not yet filed lawsuits until there is clarity from the court rulings in the previously filed cases.
