Commerce Ministry Monitors Prices Nationwide, Emphasizes Sufficient Supplies and Immediate Action Against Exploiters

The Ministry of Commerce has deployed provincial commerce offices nationwide to closely monitor the product situation from 5-18 March 2026. Five cases of failure to display price tags were found in five provinces, with immediate legal action emphasized.

A reporter from the Ministry of Commerce reported that the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, together with provincial commerce offices in all 76 provinces, is closely monitoring the impact of tensions in the Middle East to prevent effects on product prices and the cost of living. As of 18 March 2026, inspections covered 1,005 locations, including 538 gas stations, 97 markets, 126 wholesale and retail outlets, and 244 fertilizer shops.

Overall, the consumer goods situation remains normal with sufficient supply to meet public demand. No hoarding or refusal to sell goods was found. The Ministry of Commerce supervises prices to ensure they align with costs.

Between 5–18 March 2026, five violations were found involving failure to display price tags on goods and services as required by the Price of Goods and Services Act B.E. 2542 (1999). These occurred in five provinces: Chumphon, Sa Kaeo, Sakon Nakhon, Ubon Ratchathani, and Chiang Rai. Legal action has been taken against the offenders.

Under these unusual circumstances, the Ministry of Commerce confirms it will continue proactive price supervision. If any exploitative actions against consumers are found, strict legal action will be taken to ensure fair trade and protect people nationwide. The public can report exploitative behavior to the Department of Internal Trade hotline at 1569 or their provincial commerce offices, which will dispatch officers to investigate and take legal action if violations are confirmed.
