National Telecom Public Company Limited (NT) confirms its readiness to handle potential risks to the undersea cable systems in the Middle East region, assuring that Thailand’s internet network will continue to provide uninterrupted service.
Major General Sanphachai Huavanand, President and CEO of National Telecom Public Company Limited (NT) stated, “NT has comprehensively prepared its international internet network with robust backup systems capable of efficiently supporting users even if some undersea cable areas are affected. Customers can be confident that Thailand’s internet service remains stable, and NT is committed to providing continuous service 24 hours a day.”
As a leading international internet network provider in the country, NT has implemented comprehensive measures to ensure smooth and highly stable service, as follows:
NT manages traffic across a total of six undersea cable systems, covering both land and sea routes. If a disruption occurs on any route, the system can immediately transfer traffic to backup routes, with the capability to switch to other undersea cable networks operated by NT and international providers. This is possible because NT has pre-secured diverse international capacity routes, which helps distribute traffic, reduce risks from single points of failure, and maintain efficient service continuity.
Currently, only two cable systems pass through the mentioned risk area, representing less than 10% of Thailand’s total internet traffic to Europe. Therefore, any impact on users is expected to be limited and manageable according to the backup plans.
NT has prepared measures to address indirect effects such as increased latency to certain destinations by adjusting connection routes and managing the network appropriately to ensure users experience uninterrupted service.
Moreover, NT’s Network Operations Center continuously monitors and tracks the situation closely 24 hours a day to maintain service standards and provide maximum assurance to users nationwide.
