Check Now! Free Expressway and Motorway Use During Songkran 2026 — Which Routes Are Included?

Mr. Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, revealed after chairing a meeting to prepare plans for facilitating and ensuring public safety during Songkran 2026 that agencies under the Ministry of Transport are preparing to provide free convenience services to the public during the Songkran festival 2026, including the following.

1. Toll exemptions on expressways managed by the Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) include:

  • Burapha Withi Expressway and Kanchanaphisek Expressway (Bang Phli - Suksawat) will be toll-free for 7 days, from 00:01 on 10 April 2026 until 24:00 on 16 April 2026.
  • Udon Ratthaya Expressway and Chalerm Maha Nakhon Expressway will be toll-free for 3 days, from 00:01 on 13 April 2026 until 24:00 on 15 April 2026.

2. Toll fee exemptions on three motorways managed by the Department of Highways (DOH) include:

  • Motorway No. 7 (Bangkok - Pattaya City).
  • Motorway No. 9 (Bangkok Outer Ring Road, Kanchanaphisek Road, sections Bang Pa-in - Bang Phli and Phra Pradaeng - Bang Khae, including the Phra Pradaeng - Bang Khun Thian interchange).
  • Motorway No. 81 (Bang Yai - Kanchanaburi).

Mr. Piyapong Jiwattanakulpaisarn, Director-General of the Department of Highways, stated that the DOH will open Motorway No. 6 from Bang Pa-in to Nakhon Ratchasima, a distance of 196 kilometers, free of charge 24 hours a day, similar to the New Year 2026 period.

The Bang Pa-in to Pak Chong section will serve as the outbound route from Bangkok between 10-13 April 2026, with the Muak Lek toll plaza opened, and as the inbound route to Bangkok from 14-19 April 2026. The Pak Chong to Nakhon Ratchasima section will be open for both outbound and inbound traffic. Overall, the Motorway M6 project construction is 99.01% complete.
