Krob Krua Transport Company announced a 2-baht fare increase across all Saen Saep Canal boat routes (new fares 13-23 baht), effective 30 March 2026. This adjustment comes after bearing unsustainable costs from diesel prices soaring to nearly 39 baht per liter. The company will monitor the situation again on 6 April, and if fuel prices remain high, further fare increases may be necessary. They confirmed that if diesel prices decrease, fares will be lowered accordingly.
Mr. Chaowalit Methayaprapas, Managing Director of Krob Krua Transport (2002) Co., Ltd., owner of the Saen Saep Canal boats, stated that due to the sharp surge in oil prices on 26 March 2026, especially diesel B7 prices rising to 38.94 baht per liter — an increase of 6 baht per liter in one jump — this directly impacted the operating costs of boats on the Saen Saep Canal route between Wat Sriboonruang and Phan Fa Lilat Bridge. Consequently, Krob Krua Transport issued a notice to adjust fares from 11-21 baht to13-23 bahtbased on distance, to help the business sustain itself amid the current energy cost crisis.
This fare increase will take effect from Monday, 30 March 2026, raising fares by 2 baht per distance segment. The adjustment is based on a diesel price range of 33.01 to 35.00 baht per liter, even though the current diesel price has already exceeded nearly 39 baht per liter. This decision aims to initially ease the impact on passengers before reassessing the situation again.
The service provider added that the 2-baht fare increase might not be final since diesel was priced at 38.94 baht on 26 March, exceeding the threshold used for this adjustment. Therefore, the company will reassess the situation and actual costs by 6 April 2026 to determine if further fare increases are needed to align with diesel prices above 35 baht. According to their comparison table, if diesel prices move into the 35.01 to 37.00 baht range or higher, fares would increase by an additional 1 baht per segment accordingly.
Mr. Chaowalit said,"When oil prices rise, fare costs must rise as well."He added, "We have provided boat services for 40 years and have never experienced such a sudden oil price jump. We expect this to be temporary. Krob Krua Transport confirms this fare increase aligns with energy price mechanisms, and if oil prices decrease in the future, the company is ready to lower fares proportionally to reflect reduced costs."
