Thai people face hardship as Chao Phraya Express Boat announces a 2-baht fare increase for all boat types due to the continuous surge in diesel prices, effective Monday, 30 March 2026.
Captain Charoenporn Charoentham, Managing Director of Chao Phraya Express Boat Company Limited, which operates passenger boats on the Chao Phraya River route from Pak Kret Pier to Wat Ratchasingkhon Pier, stated that diesel prices have been rising continuously, directly impacting operating costs. As of 26 March 2026, diesel costs 38.99 baht per liter. The company therefore must raise fares for all boat types by 2 baht from the previous rates, effective Monday, 30 March 2026.
• Orange-flagged boats: Route Nonthaburi – Wat Ratchasingkhon: fare increases from 16 baht to 18 baht (full route).
• Yellow-flagged boats: Route Nonthaburi – Sathorn: fare increases from 21 baht to 23 baht (full route).
• Green-yellow-flagged boats:
- Route Pak Kret – Nonthaburi: fare increases from 14 baht to 16 baht.
- Route Nonthaburi – Sathorn: fare increases from 21 baht to 23 baht.
- Route Pak Kret – Sathorn: fare increases from 33 baht to 35 baht.
• Red-flagged boats (air-conditioned): Route Nonthaburi – Sathorn: fare increases from 30 baht to 32 baht.
Captain Charoenporn added that the company had delayed fare increases out of concern for passengers' hardships, but due to the sharp rise in diesel prices, the fare adjustment has become unavoidable.
If diesel prices decrease, the company will adjust fares downward accordingly.
