Transport Company to Raise Van, Minibus, and Bus Fares Starting 6 April Due to High Fuel Costs

Prepare yourselves! The Transport Company has announced a 5 satang per kilometer fare increase for all vans and minibuses starting 6 April. Meanwhile, bus and affiliated vehicle fares will adjust after Songkran, from 20 April. The company's managing director acknowledged that if fuel prices reach 45-50 baht per liter, an additional increase might be necessary to ensure operators' survival.

The fare increase for vans and minibuses begins on 6 April.

On 1 April 2026, Mr. Attawit Rakjamroon, Managing Director of the Transport Company, revealed updates on the public transport fare adjustments, stating that following the Central Land Transport Control Board's resolution, permission has been granted to operators to raise fares to align with current operating costs.

The first group to have their fares adjusted includes approximately 3,000 vans and minibuses on all routes, with a 5 satang per kilometer increase effective from 6 April 2026.

Bus and affiliated vehicle fares remain unchanged until after Songkran, with adjustments starting 20 April.

For passengers planning to travel during the Songkran festival, the Transport Company confirmed fares will remain unchanged until mid-April. Large public buses, including both company-owned and affiliated services totaling about 6,000 vehicles, will increase fares by 5 satang per kilometer starting 20 April to avoid impacting travelers returning home.

Monitoring fuel prices closely; further fare hikes planned if prices reach 50 baht.

Mr. Attawit added that the company is closely monitoring diesel prices. If prices rise to 45-50 baht per liter, it may become necessary to increase fares by an additional 5-6 satang per kilometer to enable operators to continue business.

Urgent measures sought to assist affiliated operators struggling with costs.

On 2 April, the Transport Company plans to convene a meeting with over 6,000 affiliated service operators to hear their issues and demands, as many are currently unable to bear rising fuel and maintenance costs.

The company has prepared initial relief measures by reducing vehicle release fees from 6 to 19 April 2026 to ease hardship before the official fare increase policy from the Land Transport Department is implemented.
