The Ministry of Transport is facilitating public travel during Songkran 2026 under the slogan “No matter what time you leave, you'll get home the same—Smart Travel Songkran 2026,” while also offering special gifts. “Free expressway and motorway tolls” Additionally, parking points at Suvarnabhumi Airport and free vehicle inspections are arranged, aiming to reduce accidents, fatalities, and injuries by no less than 5%.

Check the routes where expressways and motorways are free during Songkran 2026.

Toll exemptions apply on five expressway routes.

  • Burapha Withi Expressway and Kanchanaphisek Expressway (Bang Phli – Suksawat) from 10 to 16 April 2026, a total of 7 days.
  • Chalerm Maha Nakhon Expressway, Si Rat Expressway, and Udon Ratthaya Expressway from 13 to 15 April 2026, a total of 3 days.

Toll exemptions also apply on motorways number 7, 9, and 81.

  • Motorway No. 7 (Bangkok – Chonburi–Pattaya–Map Ta Phut).
  • Motorway No. 9 (Outer Ring Road of Bangkok, Kanchanaphisek Road sections Bang Pa-in – Bang Phli and Phra Pradaeng – Bang Khae, including Phra Pradaeng – Bang Khun Thian interchange).
  • Motorway No. 81 (Bang Yai – Kanchanaburi).

From 10 to 16 April 2026, a total of 7 days.

The following routes are open for use: Motorways Under construction:

  • Motorway No. 6 Entire stretch from Bang Pa-in to Nakhon Ratchasima, with Bang Pa-in to Pak Chong section open outbound from Bangkok between 10 and 13 April 2026.

    Inbound to Bangkok between 14 and 19 April 2026, while Pak Chong to Nakhon Ratchasima section is open both outbound and inbound.
  • Motorway No. 82 From Bang Khun Thian interchange to Ekachai, covering 10 kilometers.

Available for use every day, 24 hours a day.

Free expressways for 7 days: 10–16 April 2026.

  • Burapha Withi Expressway.
  • Kanchanaphisek Expressway. (Bang Phli – Suksawat).
  • Motorway No. 7. (Bangkok – Chonburi–Pattaya–Map Ta Phut).

Full safety standards implemented.

  • Construction activities halted and road surfaces restored.
  • Increased lighting, warning signs, guidance signs, and safety equipment installed. Safety. Risk points are monitored closely.
  • Strict law enforcement. Strictly enforced. Alcohol and drug tests conducted on truck and public transport drivers, with traffic discipline strictly monitored.

On National Elderly Day, 13 April, the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand waives MRT fares on all four lines—Purple, Blue, Yellow, and Pink—for passengers aged 60 and above from 13 to 15 April 2026 during service hours. Meanwhile, the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority offers free bus rides on all types on 13 April 2026.
