Mr. Somas Patamasukon, Director General of the Department of Skill Development. He revealed that the Department of Skill Development is offering free vehicle inspections before the Songkran festival to prevent and reduce road accidents during the 2026 festival. The festival period typically sees higher accident rates due to risks like speeding, drunk driving, and vehicle unpreparedness, causing losses of life and property each year. The department has set operational guidelines to support government measures, focusing on multi-sector participation to reduce risk factors, enhance travel safety, and promote efficient energy use, enabling people to travel safely back to their hometowns.

Furthermore, the Department of Skill Development has arranged free vehicle inspection services before the festival from 3 to 9 April 2026 at skill development institutes and offices nationwide.
