Chaiyachonok Takes on Second Term as Minister of Digital Economy and Society, Plans to Bring DGA Back Under Ministry to Centralize Digital Agencies as Nations Backbone

Chaiyachonok is requesting a deputy minister position to help share the heavy workload as the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society is positioned as the backbone of the country. Plans include bringing the Digital Government Development Agency (DGA) back under DE's jurisdiction to centralize all digital agencies and switching to an electric vehicle to conserve energy.

7 Apr 2026 GMT+7 Chaiyachonok Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society (DE), and Nan Boonthida Somchai, Deputy Minister of DE, visited the Brahma Shrine at the Government Complex Center Building B on Chaeng Watthana Road to seek auspicious blessings upon assuming office. They then proceeded to the DE Ministry nearby before leaving shortly afterward.


Chaiyachonok, now serving his second term as DE Minister, said he will request an additional deputy minister to help lighten the ministry's heavy workload, as DE is designated the backbone of the country. His tasks include revising laws and promoting the use and updating of technology.

"Initially, DE will bring the Digital Government Development Agency (DGA), which was previously under DE but is now under the Prime Minister's Office, back under DE's oversight to centralize government digital policy agencies and align their direction.".

Supporting energy-saving policies, plans to switch to electric vehicles.

When asked about energy-saving policies, Chaiyachonok said he does not use an official vehicle and is in the process of switching to an electric vehicle (EV). Regarding recent controversies targeting Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, he personally admires many of the Prime Minister's efforts to reduce energy consumption. . . .

Meanwhile, Nan Boonthida said she will consult with the DE Minister to incorporate digital technology and systems to support various government measures. The focus is on integrating data to assess situations and implement targeted assistance for the public, especially supporting the use of public internet. Clear plans are expected after Songkran. .
