
BKS revealed that the number of people traveling back to their hometowns for Songkran 2026 on 11 Apr surged to a record high of over 150,000. They confirmed excellent bus operation management, with no passengers left stranded, and outlined plans to deploy additional buses for inbound travel to Bangkok from 16 to 19 Apr.
Mr. Atthawit Rakjamroon, President of The Transport Company Limited (BKS), reported that on 11 Apr 2026, 88,598 passengers departed from Bangkok while 62,995 returned, totaling 151,593 travelers. There were 3,988 outbound trips and 3,757 inbound trips by buses (both company-owned and partner operators), summing up to 7,745 trips. Bus services were adequately managed to meet public demand, with the last departure at 23:35. All passengers reached their destinations safely with no one left stranded at stations.
On 12 Apr 2026, short-distance routes such as Bangkok to Nakhon Ratchasima, Pattaya, Kanchanaburi, and Nakhon Sawan still saw travelers returning home. It is estimated that over 100,000 passengers will travel round-trip using around 6,000 bus trips (company and partner buses).
Beyond outbound plans, BKS has prepared measures for the return journey to Bangkok during 16–19 Apr 2026, expecting an average of 120,000 passengers daily and readiness accordingly.
They will provide 6,000 bus trips daily (including BKS and partner buses).
An extra 1,200 non-regular buses (with registration starting with 30) will be added to the fleet.
Emphasis is placed on safety and sufficient service levels to prevent any passengers from being left behind.
