Rail systems accounted for the highest service share at 44%, with the highest user statistics by region as follows.

  • Central region: air travel (outbound) with 156,888 passengers.
  • Northeastern region: road travel with 109,751 passengers.
  • Southern region: rail travel with 98,881 passengers.
  • Northern region: road travel with 65,335 passengers.

Traffic volume entering and exiting Bangkok on 12 main highways totaled 3,198,641 vehicles, up 1.29% from last year.

Accident statistics on the Ministry's networks from 10 to 12 April 2026 (three days) showed 535 land accidents, with 488 injuries and 75 deaths. The main cause was speeding, accounting for 339 cases or 63%. The vehicle type involved most was pickups or four-wheel trucks at 314. Most accidents occurred on straight, flat roads—391 times or 73%. Phitsanulok province recorded the highest deaths at five, while Bangkok had the most accidents at 33.

Compared to 2025, these figures are encouraging, showing a 30% reduction in accidents, an 18% decrease in fatalities, and a 31% drop in injuries.

Transport Ministry enforces strict alcohol checks and vehicle readiness 100%.

The Ministry continues proactive safety measures, inspecting 47,159 public buses at 222 checkpoints nationwide, finding no serious defects. Inspections at 172 ports and ferry terminals found issues on 13 vessels, which were immediately ordered corrected. Alcohol and drug tests on drivers and staff found no violations.

The Ministry urges the public to strictly obey traffic laws, avoid speeding, and refrain from drinking alcohol before and while driving to ensure safety for themselves and others.
