Chaiyachonok declared his policy, confident that transferring the DGA from the Prime Minister's supervision will pose no problem, as the government is united. He plans to use the crisis as an opportunity to negotiate stricter oversight of foreign platforms, including reductions in GP fees, tax collection, and service charges, since in such conditions every country prioritizes its own interests.
Chaiyachonok Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society (DE), revealed during his policy briefing on 16 Apr 2026 that the process to bring the Digital Government Development Agency (Public Organization), or DGA, which is currently supervised by the Prime Minister, back under the DE ministry is underway. He is confident the transfer will be completed swiftly without any issues with the Prime Minister, given the government’s unity. After the transfer, he will personally oversee the DGA.
"Bringing the DGA back under DE will allow the ministry to supervise state-run applications, which currently have 30 million users, to better serve and assist Thai citizens according to their needs, as well as to systematically integrate data across agencies. Since technology is now integral to every operation, the Ministry of DE is involved in all aspects," he explained.
Beyond using technology to enhance citizens’ quality of life, especially in natural disaster prevention, the ministry will continue previous policies such as strengthening laws to combat tech crimes and scammers. Although numbers have decreased, these issues still severely affect the public’s peace of mind. Additionally, plans to increase oversight of foreign platforms will be clearly outlined.
"Previously, we allowed these platforms to operate freely, but now that the country is in crisis, every nation prioritizes its own interests. This is an opportune moment for us to build leverage for the benefit of our country, whether by negotiating reductions in GP fees charged to shops and riders, tax collection, or setting service charges, especially for transportation services," he said.
