DE Unveils Policy Plan to Accelerate Integration of Welfare and Government Measures to Reach Thai People

On 16 April 2026, Chaiyachonok Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society (DE), together with Nan Boonthida Somchai, Deputy Minister of Digital Economy and Society (DE), held a press conference to announce the policy direction for driving the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, with executives from affiliated agencies attending.

Chaiyachonok stated that the DE Ministry continues to push forward policies addressing four main threats: natural disasters, security threats, economic threats, and social threats, building on progress from the past four months. The ministry is also advancing its role as the primary agency using technology to connect government and citizens, aiming to unify Thailand by integrating data from various government agencies to drive welfare and government assistance measures to support the public, especially amid the current crisis resulting from security issues in the Middle East.

The DE Ministry will assess technology use with a focus on stable and sustainable development to maximize benefits for the people, while also considering environmental impact. Today, we must prioritize the interests of Thai people. The ministry intends to use this crisis as an opportunity to transform digital infrastructure, laying the foundation for sustainable national development.

An urgent priority is connecting citizens' data with government agencies to enable people to access welfare and state measures that match target groups and their needs, while ensuring protection of personal data under the PDPA.

This also includes upgrading technology to prepare for natural disasters and integrating data and assistance methods for disaster relief, reviewing emergency communication systems of each agency, including primary and backup communication systems, to respond to changing situations.

Regarding social threats, transnational crime, and scammers, there will be an accelerated effort to improve laws related to preventing and suppressing online crime, implementing the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime, and laws related to emergency situations. Although fraud cases have decreased in the past four months, this remains a national priority, especially amid current crises and uncertainties. Therefore, intensified efforts are necessary to ensure public safety, requiring stronger and more consistent action.

Nan Boonthida said the DE Ministry will serve as the main coordinating body among all ministries to implement welfare policies and government measures to the public, facilitating and supporting citizens. Going forward, there will be stronger integration of data and coordination through digital technologies across ministries, without restrictions.

Thus, the implementation of government measures by various ministries will reach the public more precisely according to target groups and their needs, particularly during the current energy crisis Thailand is facing.

However, the DE Ministry will carry out data integration according to policies of other ministries, such as precision agriculture, trade data, import-export information from the Ministry of Commerce, and monitoring impacts on entrepreneurs and the general public, with government agencies prioritizing assistance to the people.
