
"Akniti" Held bilateral talks with senior European Union representatives at the 2026 Spring Meetings in Washington D.C., aiming to strengthen economic and investment cooperation and attract European funds to support Thailand’s clean energy, electric vehicle, and digital economy industries.
Mr. Akniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, revealed that he participated in bilateral discussions with Mr. Kyriakos Pierrakakis, Chairman of EuroGroup and Minister of Economy and Finance of the Hellenic Republic (Greece), to exchange views on the global economic situation and its impact on the European Union and Thailand. The talks also aimed to enhance economic cooperation during the 2026 Spring Meetings of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund Governors’ Council in Washington D.C., USA.
Both parties agreed on the importance of elevating economic cooperation between Thailand and the European Union by promoting a strategic partnership focused on transitioning to a green and digital economy, alongside disciplined fiscal policy. They also recognized the potential to expand investment cooperation, especially in clean energy, electric vehicles, the digital economy, and advanced industries, as well as to facilitate European capital flows into new growth opportunities in Thailand to support sustainable and inclusive long-term development.
