Commerce Ministry Partners with Tops to Promote Affordable Thai Products and Help Reduce Living Costs

The Ministry of Commerce partners with Tops to promote Thai products to support the Thai people in overcoming the economic crisis. They launched the "Tops Local" zone at Central Chaengwattana, offering quality products at affordable prices to help reduce living expenses for the public.

The Ministry of Commerce, through the Department of Business Development, continues the "Thai Help Thai: Reduce Burden, Lower Living Costs" project. It features quality consumer goods from 149 SMEs and community entrepreneurs, totaling over 550 items, discounted up to 50%. The project also expands sales channels for Thai products into modern trade outlets, aiming to ease the public's burden, increase entrepreneurs’ income, and stimulate sustainable grassroots economic growth.

Mr. Poonpong Nainapakorn, Director-General of the Department of Business Development, Ministry of Commerce, stated that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Mrs. Supachai Sutthammanoon has instructed the department to expedite development of Thai Help Thai products and increase income for Thai SMEs by promoting their products and community goods into modern trade stores and online channels. Simultaneously, they are mindful of

the hardships faced by the public due to rising living costs, especially the price adjustments of essential daily consumer goods. The department has already collaborated with wholesale and retail stores and major product manufacturers nationwide to create the "Thai Help Thai: Reduce Burden, Lower Living Costs" sales zones. They encourage the public to purchase over 3,000 House Brand items discounted between 20% and 58%, effectively lowering living expenses. This initiative has been well received by the public, with increased sales reflecting strong demand for Thai Help Thai products.

Director-General Poonpong added, "Today, we joined executives from Central Food Retail Company Limited, part of Central Retail, at Tops Central Chaengwattana to promote the 'Tops Local' (TOPS TONGTIN) zone. This expands on the success of the first phase by selecting over 550 high-quality local products from 149 SMEs and communities (85 from the Central region, 33 Northern, 18 Northeastern, and 13 Southern), including chili pastes, instant noodles, beverages, snacks, and local treats. These are offered at special discounts of up to 50% to provide the public with a wider variety of affordable Thai Help Thai products while maintaining quality.

"We invite the public to purchase Thai Help Thai products, including House Brand items and community entrepreneurs’ goods in the 'Tops Local' zone through three channels: Tops stores, Tops Food Halls, and Tops Online. This collaboration with Tops serves as an important retail channel at the community level, helping distribute Thai products widely to consumers. It also creates trade opportunities for small entrepreneurs to access modern markets, increase sales, and strengthen the local economy. We expect this to stimulate consumer spending and circulate money efficiently within the Thai economy. Moving forward, we will coordinate with other department stores to implement similar initiatives," Director-General Poonpong concluded.
