NT Partners with China Satcom to Launch ChinaSat-26 Satellite Enhancing High-Speed Internet Coverage Across Thailand

NT has partnered with China Satcom to deploy the ChinaSat-26 satellite, enhancing nationwide coverage of high-speed internet services, reducing inequality, and preparing for emergency situations.

Mr. Sorapong Siriphan, Deputy Managing Director of Telecommunications and Satellite Operations at National Telecom Public Company Limited (NT), and Mr. Zhang Yu, Head of International Business at China Satellite Communications Co., Ltd. (China Satcom), jointly signed a satellite business partnership agreement between NT and China Satcom. The signing ceremony was chaired by Colonel Sanpachai Huvanandana, CEO of NT, and Mr. Sun Jing, Chairman of the Board of China Satcom, at NT's headquarters on Chaeng Watthana Road, Bangkok, on 22 April 2026 GMT+7.

Under this cooperation, China Satcom has appointed NT as its representative in Thailand to provide high-speed internet services via the ChinaSat-26 satellite, a geostationary High-Throughput Satellite (HTS). It will deliver coverage nationwide using both fixed and mobile terminals installed on vehicles such as boats and aircraft. This will enhance communication security and stability, reduce access disparities, and especially prepare for various emergency situations that may arise.

Colonel Sanpachai Huvanandana, CEO of NT, stated that satellite technology plays a crucial role in strengthening Thailand’s telecommunications infrastructure. It also expands communication capabilities across Southeast Asia, aligning with the national strategy to upgrade infrastructure and position Thailand as a regional satellite communication hub in the future, while driving the country's digital economy.

"NT is well-prepared with extensive telecommunications service experience across the country to support future market growth by integrating satellite technology with NT’s existing nationwide infrastructure. This will reinforce network stability and continuity, whether as primary or backup channels. Additionally, it will address connectivity demands in remote areas such as islands and mountains where fiber optic cables do not reach, while increasing opportunities for access to education, healthcare, and the digital economy for communities nationwide."

Mr. Sun Jing, Chairman of the Board of China Satellite Communications Co., Ltd. (China Satcom), said the company developed ChinaSat-26 as a high-speed, stable communication satellite covering all of Thailand and Southeast Asia. The partnership with NT, which has strong network management and service capabilities, not only promotes the development of Thailand’s digital economy but also acts as a new driving force for regional connectivity in Southeast Asia.

"Besides serving as a digital bridge linking distant locations, the collaboration between these two organizations reflects the strong ties between China and Thailand under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), a strategy for developing infrastructure and economic connectivity between countries. In the future, China Satcom will bring its efficient resources, expert teams, and reliable services to jointly develop offerings with NT to build a new future for digital cooperation."
