Commerce Ministry Launches Stamp Exhibition Honoring Princess Sirivannavari’s 2025 WIPO Award

The Ministry of Commerce organized an exhibition to launch commemorative stamps honoring Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, marking the occasion of the WIPO Award for Creative Excellence.

The Ministry of Commerce, through the Department of Intellectual Property, organized an exhibition to launch commemorative postage stamps honoring Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, on the occasion that the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) presented the award "WIPO Award for Creative Excellence 2025." This was to honor and promote the Princess’s creativity and intellectual property achievements, which serve as a key inspiration for Thailand’s creative economy development. The event was held from 28 to 30 April 2026 at Living Hall, 3rd Floor, Siam Paragon Shopping Center.

Mrs. Supachai Sutthumpan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, revealed that the Ministry of Commerce, through the Department of Intellectual Property, organized an exhibition to launch commemorative postage stamps honoring Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya. This followed WIPO’s presentation of the Award for Creative Excellence on 14 August 2025, celebrating her creativity, diligence, and efforts to preserve and promote Thai cultural heritage with dignity.

On the global stage, the Princess is dedicated to continuing and advancing the royal mission of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, in preserving and revitalizing Thai textile wisdom and traditional handicrafts. She has inspired Thai fabrics to become contemporary, suitable for everyday use, and internationally recognized. She also promotes the concept of “Sustainable Fashion,” blending cultural beauty with environmental and social responsibility in balance.

Mrs. Supachai stated that the commemorative postage stamp set “Nareeratna,” produced by the Department of Intellectual Property in collaboration with Thailand Post, features a portrait of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari in traditional Thai attire alongside the WIPO Award and the royal cypher “S.R.” beneath the royal crown on a background patterned with the “Sirirajapastraporn” textile design, created by the Princess herself. This symbolizes recording her contributions, creativity, vision, and benevolence to be recognized throughout Thailand and worldwide, serving as a link connecting cultural heritage, creativity, and Thai pride across generations.

This exhibition launch is an important opportunity for the public to appreciate the value of Thai textiles, handicrafts, and intellectual property, and to recognize the role of creativity rooted in cultural heritage, which leads to balanced and sustainable economic and social development. The exhibition, under the theme The Journey of Royal Creative Excellence, involved collaboration with several partners including the SIRIVANNAVARI brand, the Community Development Department, the Support Arts and Crafts International Centre of Thailand (Public Organization) or SACICT, Thailand Post, Icon Craft, and Siam Paragon. The exhibition highlighted the Princess’s design work, inspired by traditional patterns from all regions of Thailand, creatively adapted into contemporary works that deeply reflect cultural roots. She has also provided textile patterns to weavers and artisans nationwide, generating sustainable employment, income, and improved livelihoods.

The textile patterns granted by the Princess to the Community Development Department have had 18 copyright registrations recorded by the Department of Intellectual Property from 2021 to 2025, including designs such as Dok Rak Rajakanya, Siriwachiraporn, and Sirirajapastraporn fabrics. It is a source of pride that community weavers have used these royal patterns to generate income for more than 800,000 households, valued at nearly 200 billion baht. These royal initiatives not only preserve cultural heritage but also serve as a model for elevating Thai creative works through systematic intellectual property protection. The Princess’s works have 541 intellectual property items registered, including 227 copyrights, 58 trademarks, and 256 design patents, reflecting her vision in valuing creativity and managing intellectual property from registration to commercial application.

Additionally, the event featured a seminar titled “Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya’s Excellence in Creative Intellectual Property,” with expert panelists including Mrs. Oramon Subtaveetham, Director-General of the Department of Intellectual Property; Associate Professor Dr. Anucha Teerakanon, Director of SACICT; Mr. Wanchai Yanubon, board member and assistant secretary of the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra Foundation under the Princess’s patronage; and Mr. Methin Liyakart, expert committee member of Thailand Post’s stamp and collectibles committee. They shared knowledge and experiences, highlighting the role of intellectual property in commercializing creative works and inspiring Thai people and the creative industry workforce.

Those interested can visit the exhibition and find details about purchasing the commemorative stamps from 28 to 30 April 2026 at Living Hall, 3rd Floor, Siam Paragon, or through the Department of Intellectual Property and Thailand Post.
