Deputy Transport Minister Sannapetch Boonyamanee met with the Thai Chamber of Commerce to advance upgrades in logistics and water transport, urgently address traffic congestion at Laem Chabang Port, aiming to establish Thailand as a regional center.

Today's proposals include promoting coastal transport, resolving congestion at Laem Chabang Port, and advancing the Maritime Single Window system. These urgent issues align with the government's policy to reduce logistics costs and boost the country's competitiveness. The ministry is ready to act as a coordinator to accelerate implementation and achieve tangible results quickly.

Highlighting four urgent issues to resolve Laem Chabang Port problems.

The Thai Chamber of Commerce Council presented four main urgent issues to address problems and improve transport efficiency, consisting of.

  1. Promoting coastal transport by considering reducing the berthing charge rate A at Laem Chabang Port to incentivize and lower overall costs.

  2. Solving traffic congestion at Laem Chabang Port through new traffic management to increase flow and improve cargo handling efficiency, a persistent problem faced by operators.

  3. Concession management by reviewing extending concession periods for Laem Chabang Port operators from annual to 2–3 years or at least 5 years.

  4. Promoting water transport by expediting meetings of the Maritime Promotion Committee, appointing the Port Authority committee, and advancing the Maritime Single Window system.

Mr. Kritphet. He added regarding the proposal for dredging and maintaining economic waterways that the Marine Department has allocated the 2027 budget for dredging and sediment removal in 17 economically important channels to maintain depth standards continuously.
