Commerce Ministry Kicks Off “Green Flag Economical Plus” Kamphaeng Phet Province, 6-7 May 2026, slashes chemical fertilizer and production input prices, helping farmers reduce costs by up to 2,100 baht per household, with plans to expand to 30 provinces nationwide.
On 6 May 2026, the Department of Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce, launched efforts to reduce cultivation costs for Thai farmers by initiating the project “Thai Helps Thai to Reduce Production Costs: Green Flag Economical Plus” starting in Kamphaeng Phet province, subsidizing chemical fertilizer and production inputs to alleviate rising cost pressures.
Mr. Chantaphat Panjamanon, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade, said after visiting the “Green Flag Economical Plus” project at Khlong Suan Mak Cooperative in Khlong Lan District, Kamphaeng Phet Province, that the department is aware of farmers’ difficulties due to rising chemical fertilizer prices driven by global energy costs, an external factor directly impacting cultivation expenses.
The event (held 6–7 May 2026) aims to distribute quality production inputs at affordable prices directly to farmers growing rice, cassava, sugarcane, and corn. Ten popular chemical fertilizer formulas (such as 46-0-0, 15-15-15, 16-20-0, etc.) are available to support the upcoming planting season.
Under this project’s assistance measures, the government has increased the chemical fertilizer price compensation to farmers to better align with actual cost burdens, with details and conditions as follows:
Important conditions Farmers who meet all conditions will receive support totaling up to approximately 2,100 baht and must present their farmer registration book (green booklet) to claim the benefits.
The Deputy Director-General explained the department’s goal to pilot the program in 10 provinces, with budget allocations for provincial commerce offices to cover 30 provinces nationwide to align with the planting season. This supports key economic crops including rice, feed corn, cassava, oil palm, rubber, and fruits. After Kamphaeng Phet, events will continue in Kanchanaburi and Ratchaburi provinces.
“This initiative is a key government mechanism to tangibly reduce cost burdens, enabling farmers to access quality fertilizers and production inputs at reasonable prices, strengthening their long-term income security, while coordinating closely with producers and importers to maintain agricultural product price stability,” Mr. Chantaphat concluded.
