The Minister of Transport instructed the Airports of Thailand (AOT) to elevate service quality to ensure value following the increase in departure passenger service charges (PSC). He urged the accelerated use of technology to alleviate congestion and promote Thailand as an aviation center, alongside supporting clean energy usage and employee welfare.
Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, revealed this after the State Enterprise Labor Union of Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT Union), led by Mr. Pongpat Mahakusol, union president, held discussions to concretely advance Thailand's role as an aviation center, with the ultimate goal being benefits for the public and service users.
Mr. Phiphat stated that he raised the important issue of the upcoming adjustment of international departure passenger service charges (PSC), stressing that AOT must concretely improve services and passenger care. The public should genuinely feel the value and benefits returned to them, especially through full implementation of automation technology to reduce congestion and speed up travel convenience. He also suggested working alongside public relations efforts to attract more tourists to Thailand.
He emphasized that all AOT employees and union members are like the frontline and heart of the country. Providing attentive, high-standard service will be crucial in creating a positive impression from the moment tourists arrive, which will benefit Thailand’s image and overall tourism growth.
Mr. Phiphat added that in line with government policy amid the energy crisis, he instructed AOT and all employees to strictly implement energy-saving measures within passenger terminals and offices. This includes promoting and concretely supporting the use of clean energy, such as installing solar power systems on roofs, to ensure sustainability for passengers.
He also requested the union to closely look after employee welfare and mental health, emphasizing unity: "If any employees or the union have issues or problems, please always feel free to come and discuss them. Both AOT management and I are open to listening and fully committed to resolving problems, because personnel are a vital cog of the organization that will deliver impressive services to the public and tourists."
