Reaffirming the right to "monthly compensation" benefits when employees suffer injury or illness due to work, receiving monthly payments from the Social Security Office’s Compensation Fund.
The Social Security Office of the Ministry of Labor publicizes the benefit rights from the Compensation Fund to reassure employees who have experienced injury or illness from work. Eligible employees will receive compensation at 70% of their monthly wage, which must not be less than the legal minimum wage applicable in the area where the employee works, nor exceed 14,000 baht per month.
Monthly compensation benefits are divided into four cases as follows:
1. In cases where a doctor orders rest for treatment, the employee is entitled to 70% of their monthly wage as compensation if unable to work from the first day, for up to one year. This requires a medical certificate specifying the need for rest, and the employee must comply with the doctor’s recommendation to stop working.
2. In cases of loss of work capability, the employee is entitled to 70% of their monthly wage for no more than 10 years. The assessment of loss of organ function or work capability is conducted after medical treatment ends and the condition stabilizes or after one year from the date of injury.
3. In cases of disability, the employee is entitled to 70% of their monthly wage for life.
4. In cases of death or disappearance, compensation at 70% of the monthly wage is paid for 10 years.
The Social Security Office invites employees and employers to learn about the benefits of the Compensation Fund to ensure full protection in case of unexpected work-related incidents.
