New Train Service Launches for Southern Travelers: Express Bangkok-Nakhon Si Thammarat Route Starting 15 May

The State Railway of Thailand is launching express trains 173 and 174 on the Bangkok Apiwat-Nakhon Si Thammarat route starting 15 May 2026 to promote tourism in the South. Ticket reservations begin 12 May.

The State Railway of Thailand announced the operation of express trains 173 and 174 on the Bangkok Apiwat–Nakhon Si Thammarat–Bangkok Apiwat route starting 15 May 2026. This service aims to facilitate public travel, providing continuous connection to the southern region, meeting the travel needs of locals and tourists alike. It also offers a convenient, safe, economical, and accessible travel option for all passenger groups, while supporting tourism and stimulating the southern provincial economy.

Train tickets will be available for reservation starting 12 May 2026 through all State Railway ticketing channels.

The resumption of this express train service will enhance connectivity between Bangkok and key southern provinces, reduce travel congestion especially during holidays and festivals, and allow travelers to plan their trips more efficiently. Ticket sales will begin on 12 May 2026 at 08:30 via all State Railway ticket outlets.

Train Schedule for Express Trains 173 and 174

The schedule for the express trains on the Bangkok Apiwat - Nakhon Si Thammarat route is as follows:

  • Train 173 (outbound) departs Bangkok Apiwat Central Station at 20:10 and arrives at Nakhon Si Thammarat Station at 10:20 the following day.
  • Train 174 (return) departs Nakhon Si Thammarat Station at 16:30 and arrives at Bangkok Apiwat Central Station at 06:45 the next day.
