Department of Intellectual Property Collaborates with Television Drama Script Writers Association to Promote Thai Content Copyrights Globally

The Department of Intellectual Property held talks with the Television Drama Script Writers Association (TSA) to promote cooperation in developing Thai scriptwriters' professional skills. The goal is to support knowledge of intellectual property for writers and entertainment industry personnel, enabling creators to manage rights and generate income from copyrighted works appropriately, while advancing Thai content toward sustainable business opportunities and global markets.

Oramon Sapthaveetham, Director-General of the Department of Intellectual Property, revealed that she held discussions with Katha Hat Buspapakes, President of the Television Drama Script Writers Association (TSA), to establish collaborative guidelines to support the growth and global competitiveness of Thailand’s content industry, particularly webtoons, dramas, films, and series, which hold strong potential for further development.Commerciallyin diverse forms, including expanding into overseas markets. Appropriate support in intellectual property protection and rights management will increase value, create business opportunities, and strengthen Thai content’s ability to compete sustainably on the global stage.whichaligns with the policy of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, Supachai Sutthapan, who emphasizes empowering Thai SMEs by using intellectual property as a tool to enhance value, expand business opportunities, and elevate Thai creative works to international markets.

Both parties exchanged views on ways to enhance the capabilities of scriptwriters and related personnel in Thailand’s content industry. The department is ready to provide expert speakers to build knowledge in intellectual property, especially copyrights, including creators’ rights protection, contract drafting, copyright infringement prevention, systematic rights management, and responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in creative work, to ensure appropriate and fair utilization of works.

The TSA president shared perspectives on promoting content industries abroad, such as in Japan and South Korea, leaders in global entertainment and content. These countries prioritize protecting creators’ rights and systematic copyright management.whichis an approach that can be adapted to support the development of Thailand’s content industry. Both sides believe collaboration between government and professional scriptwriting organizations is crucial to raising protection standards and developing creators’ potential to international levels, strengthening Thailand’s content industry for sustainable global growth.

On this occasion, the Department of Intellectual Property invited the Television Drama Script Writers Association (TSA) to partner in driving the Thailand Character & Content Expo (TCEX) 2026, scheduled from 9–12 July 2026, which will serve as a key platform to showcase the potential of Thailand’s content and creative industries.

The expo will connect entrepreneurs to business opportunities domestically and internationally. The association expressed interest in panel discussions to exchange knowledge and build collaborative networks preparing to enhance the capabilities of personnel in Thailand’s creative industry, to boost competitiveness and drive long-term growth in the creative sector.
