Suriya Accelerates Korat International Horticultural Expo 2029 to Meet BIE Standards, Shows 76% Progress for Udon Thani Expo

"Suriya" speeds up preparations for the Korat International Horticultural Expo 2029 to meet new BIE standards and reveals that the Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo 2026 is already over 76% complete.,

Moving forward with "Korat International Horticultural Expo 2029" to elevate standards to a global level.

Mr. Suriya Juangroongruangkit, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, chaired the first 2026 meeting of the Executive Committee for the Korat International Horticultural Expo 2029 at the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives meeting room (123). The meeting reviewed overall progress and readiness in event design, site management, infrastructure development including transportation, and facilitation within the event area, to ensure compliance with World Expo standards.

Integrating all sectors to meet the new BIE criteria.

Mr. Suriya revealed that the Korat International Horticultural Expo 2029 (International Horticultural Expo 2029 Korat Thailand) is scheduled from 10 November 2029 to 28 February 2030 under the theme "Nature & Greenery: Envisioning the Green Future." The expo covers five main concepts: the world's kitchen and future food, sustainable horticultural technology and innovation, livable cities of the future, biodiversity, and nature, art, and culture. The Ministry of Agriculture, through the Department of Agriculture as the lead agency, collaborates with related ministries such as Foreign Affairs, Transport, Natural Resources and Environment, Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, and Tourism and Sports to plan the site's development according to World Expo standards. The Bureau of International Expositions (BIE) has adopted these criteria to enhance rigor, transparency, and raise evaluation standards across all dimensions for the first time.

Update on progress of the "Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo 2026."

The meeting also acknowledged the progress of the Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo 2026, scheduled from 1 November 2026 to 14 March 2027 at the Nong Da Wetlands area, Kud Sa Subdistrict, Mueang District, Udon Thani Province. Overall progress stands at 76.96%, with main building structures fully completed at 100%, while architectural and system works continue, and landscape architecture is 54.33% complete. Currently, 17 countries and organizations have confirmed participation in the international garden exhibition, with an additional 9 organizations coordinating and showing interest in participating in the organizational garden displays.
