Thailands Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Showcases Air Traffic Management Capabilities, Discusses Global Aviation Advancement with CANSO

Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Ltd. (AEROTHAI) held discussions with CANSO to showcase Thailand's air traffic management system capabilities and announced the success of the first Thai to become chairperson of an ICAO working group, aiming to raise global aviation safety standards within the industry.

Mr. Surachai Nooprom, Deputy Senior Executive Vice President and Acting Senior Executive Vice President of Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Ltd. (AEROTHAI). He revealed this after welcoming Mr. Simon Hocquard, President and CEO of the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO), and his delegation during their visit and cooperation meeting on air traffic management at AEROTHAI's headquarters. The discussion reflected the global aviation community's confidence in Thailand's and AEROTHAI's capabilities.

CANSO expressed interest in studying the development of Thailand's Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM) system, developed and currently operated by AEROTHAI both domestically and in other regional countries. This system helps reduce congestion, delays, and improves airspace usage efficiency, highlighting Thailand's and AEROTHAI's key role as a leading air traffic management organization in the Asia-Pacific region. Both parties exchanged visions regarding the future direction of the global aviation industry, focusing on safety standards, technology, air traffic management efficiency, and international collaboration to accommodate the continuous growth in air travel. They anticipate future air traffic management will be increasingly driven by data, digital technology, automation, and international cooperation. AEROTHAI is prepared to contribute to shaping this direction to support the safe, efficient, and sustainable growth of the aviation industry nationally, regionally, and globally.

Mr. Surachai added that AEROTHAI was one of the founding members of CANSO in 1996 and has played an active role in shaping CANSO's direction and operations since then, helping establish it as a key global cooperation platform for air navigation service providers worldwide. AEROTHAI remains committed to advancing cooperation with international aviation organizations.

Recently, an AEROTHAI official, Mr. Piyawut Tantimekbuth, a senior academic director, was elected as chairperson of the International Civil Aviation Organization's (ICAO) Air Traffic Management Operations Panel. He is the first representative from Thailand to hold this position. This role not only reflects global recognition of Thai personnel's expertise but also offers AEROTHAI access to global knowledge, technology, and best practices to further develop air traffic services, staff training, and improve national aviation safety standards aligned with future global aviation trends.
