Reporters stated that at 15:42, emergency calls to hotline 199 and the Line app alerted authorities to a fire involving a public bus accident near the Makkasan Airport Rail Link station on Asoke-Din Daeng Road, Makkasan subdistrict, Ratchathewi district. Firefighters and rescue teams from Phayathai station are en route. So far, eight fatalities and 14 injuries have been confirmed.
Pichit Kunathamrak, Director-General of the Department of Rail Transport (DRT), reported that the Makkasan Airport Rail Link station has been temporarily closed due to smoke rising in the station area. Initially, the Makkasan station platforms will be closed temporarily, and train services will skip the Makkasan stop for now. The process is expected to take a short time.
Reporters also noted that Siri Phong Angkasungkrit, Deputy Minister of Transport, along with ministry executives, is currently traveling to the accident site to investigate the facts further.
