
The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) issued a statement clarifying the collision between a cargo train and Bus Line 206 at the Asoke-Din Daeng intersection. The incident affected six commuter and ordinary train services. SRT is coordinating with the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) to transfer passengers between Bangkok and Hua Mak stations.
On 16 May 2026, a cargo train No. 2126 (route from Laem Chabang Port to Bang Sue) collided with a bus between Khlong Tan and Makkasan stations at the railway level crossing near the Asoke-Din Daeng intersection at 15:41. The collision caused a fire in the area. The extent of damage is currently under investigation.
The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) explained that immediately after the incident, SRT's related departments dispatched teams to the scene. They coordinated with firefighting authorities and rescue units to extinguish the fire and provided maximum assistance to those affected.
The incident impacted train services as follows:
1. Ordinary train No. 277 from Bangkok (Hua Lamphong) to Kabin Buri arrived at Makkasan station at 15:44, awaiting clearance.
2. Commuter train No. 379 from Bangkok (Hua Lamphong) to Chachoengsao Junction, scheduled departure from Bangkok at 16:35, awaiting clearance.
3. Special commuter train No. 391 from Bangkok (Hua Lamphong) to Chachoengsao Junction, scheduled departure at 16:55, awaiting clearance.
4. Ordinary train No. 282 from Kabin Buri to Bangkok (Hua Lamphong) arrived at Hua Mak station at 16:38, delayed by 6 minutes, awaiting clearance.
5. Ordinary train No. 284 from Chuk Samet to Bangkok (Hua Lamphong) arrived at Hua Mak station at 17:36, on time, awaiting clearance.
6. Commuter train No. 371 from Bangkok (Hua Lamphong) to Prachin Buri,
scheduled departure from Bangkok at 17:40, awaiting clearance.
Due to the impact of this incident, some trains may require passenger transfers. SRT is cooperating with the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) to provide shuttle buses between Bangkok and Hua Mak stations to facilitate onward travel. SRT staff will closely assist and support passengers throughout the process.
Currently, SRT's Safety Center is coordinating and commanding the response, closely monitoring the situation. They are urgently investigating the accident details, cause of the fire, and assessing the damage. SRT is prepared to provide full care and compensation to those affected.
