
Suriyas joined forces with the Thai SME Federation to promote agricultural processing using modern technology, expand global markets, and enhance grassroots income levels.
Suriyas Joonrungreungkit, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, revealed that on 20 May 2026, the Thai SME Federation (SME Thai), led by Dr. Noppong Theeraworn, the federation’s chairman, along with his team, held talks on ways to promote and upgrade SME entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector, especially in agricultural processing, increasing product value, and linking markets domestically and internationally to create stable income for farmers and Thai entrepreneurs.
The Ministry of Agriculture places importance on elevating agricultural SMEs alongside developing grassroots farmers by accelerating measures to "reduce costs and increase income" through the use of modern technologies such as precision agriculture systems, efficient fertilizer use, and support for alternative energy.
Suriyas added that he also sought cooperation from the private sector and SME networks to rapidly expand marketing channels for processed agricultural products, while upgrading product standards to meet global market demands, and to continuously promote business matching to create new trade opportunities and drive sustainable growth in the agricultural economy.
On the other hand, Dr. Noppong Theeraworn, chairman of the Thai SME Federation (SME Thai), stated that after meeting with Suriyas Joonrungreungkit, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, the SME Thai Federation is confident in the policy to upgrade Thailand’s agricultural sector, which is clear and beneficial to the nation as well as fostering stable growth for Thai farmers. Additionally, the federation plans to support four main areas: developing knowledge and innovation for SME entrepreneurs and farmers by transferring processing technology and modern management; upgrading processed agricultural product standards to meet both domestic and international market demands; expanding marketing channels through offline and online partner networks; and promoting access to funding sources to enhance liquidity and competitiveness.
"The Thai SME Federation is ready to support the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives in all dimensions, including innovation development, enhancing entrepreneur capabilities, promoting both domestic and international markets, and building cooperative networks between farmers and SME entrepreneurs to drive sustainable grassroots economic growth," Dr. Noppong said.
Dr. Noppong added that the federation is also prepared to be a key mechanism in pushing entrepreneurs into standardized processing systems, increasing competitiveness, and advancing Thai agricultural products into global markets. This aligns with government policies aimed at creating long-term added value and strengthening the national economy.
