Ms. Piyarat Tiapairat, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives. She directed the National Bureau of Agricultural Commodity and Food Standards (ACFS) to conduct on-site inspections and strictly prosecute. a durian processing center in Chanthaburi. that was illegally producing and exporting durians. while its license was suspended under the Agricultural Commodity Standards Act, B.E. 2551 (2008). She also ordered the seizure of fresh durians. amounting to three containers with a total value exceeding 10 million baht.
According to information from the National Bureau of Agricultural Commodity and Food Standards (ACFS), officials received a tip about illegal durian production without a license. The Director of the Standards Control Division, along with officials, conducted a field investigation at a major durian processing center in Khao Wua Subdistrict, Tha Mai District, Chanthaburi Province.
Inspection revealed that the processing center had been ordered to suspend its license as a durian producer and exporter since 6 May 2026. However, production activities continued on site. Officials found over 35,000 empty packaging boxes and approximately 50,000 kilograms of durians already packed and ready for export.
Initially, staff claimed the products belonged to another company sharing the premises. However, a deeper investigation found that the claimed company was not authorized by law to use the site for durian production. Officials consequently seized the entire production area and three containers of fresh durians valued at over 10 million baht, preparing to prosecute both the property owner and the company using the premises.
The ACFS Secretary-General further explained that illegal production during license suspension violates the Agricultural Commodity Standards Act B.E. 2551 (2008), punishable by fines, suspension, or revocation of the license. Additionally, packaging fresh durians outside authorized locations as per the compulsory standard TAS 9070-2566 is subject to strict prosecution under licensing and standards laws.
(Additional information: Standard TAS 9070-2566 is a key regulation enforced by the Ministry of Agriculture to control the quality of exported durians, especially to major markets like China, preventing immature durians and maintaining global market confidence.)
Ms. Piyarat stressed that all durian producers must strictly comply with TAS 9070 standards. The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives will enforce the law transparently, straightforwardly, and without leniency.
“There will be no acceptance of interference or any form of pressure to aid lawbreakers. This is to protect compliant producers, safeguard consumers, and maintain trust in the quality of Thai agricultural products worldwide,” the Deputy Minister of Agriculture concluded.
